Love

Here is what I think – hang on with me as I might get a bit woohoo on you – but this is what makes sense to me.

We are all human. We are all made up of the same energy – you can call it G-d, spirit, universe, Mother Earth, Love – but there is something unknown and mysterious about how we exist. I like to think of it as love that connects all of us. If we love each other and respect each other it can make all the difference in the world.

I remember learning about the I-Thou connection from the philosopher Martin Buber and it just made so much sense to me. When we truly connect with something else – whether it is with another human, an animal or nature – we find that love or G-d or spirit between us. It is just logical to me. That we just love each other and assume the best in others.

There is so much hate and distrust and ultimately FEAR in the world right now and I think that’s the problem! I believe that it is our responsibility as humans to always be working on loving each other and ourselves more. That is not a passive process – it takes a lifetime of work to continue to grow and even change our minds sometimes. We must work hard to learn from others. We must seek out those who have had different experiences than us. We must be open to new ideas.

AND… we must TRUST another’s experience and VALUE that perspective.
